A great budget hotel with excellent english speaking staff

We stayed at City Home B&B for 2 nights and selected this as a base so we could explore the Taroko gorge (would highly recommend a tour via William at Eye Travel Taiwan). We arrived by Taxi and struggled to see the entrance at first but local people helped point us in the right direction (on the corner you will see City cars and it is 3 doors up on right hand side). We were met by the friendliest and most enthusiastic staff who spoke perfect english. They made us feel very welcome and shared with us a high number of recommendations on food choices and how/where to find them in Hualien. They also gave us a choice of floors for our room. The room was great. It was very spacious and clean and had all the amenities we needed for a good night sleep after our busy excursion. They provide tea and toiletries in each room and there was nothing we needed for. The location was perfect to explore Hualien and when we first arrived we went for a long walk to explore the area. Hualien really does come to life at night and we really enjoyed just walking around and taking in the culture. If you like a cocktail or 2, there is a really great cocktail bar just across the street called The Ginsman. They dont have a menu and will make you what you want at around £10 per cocktail. It is a great little place to relax after a busy day. The hotel take cash only and no credit cars but they made us aware in advance so no problems. When we checked out, we were once again met by a fantastic lady who was really helpful, helped us with all of our bags, to get a taxi and to wave us goodbye. She also spoke perfect english. This is a great little place, it is affordable and a good base for a budget trip. The staff made this place and we are grateful for their hospitality.

The location. Have parivet parking. The nice decorait and convenient of the unit much more than a room in an hotel. The helpfall and good willing of the host. We enjoy ther very much.

Standard fare, clean and efficient

The room itself is great and everything we asked for was provided. We did enjoy especially the central location plus it's unbeatable price. It's central to most shops and not too far for the highway. We went to Taroko Gorge early in the morning and the staff accommodated our earlier checkout. The staff is nice all around although this we did not see the same staff twice.

The water heater makes some unexpected noise which woke us up confused.
